What is an angiogram?

The Brainbook Charity have kindly given us their permission to share this amazing video showing a brain angiogram. Their aim is to improve public and patient understanding of neurological and neurosurgical diseases.

The video is of an actual brain angiogram using a catheter, x-ray imaging guidance and an injection of contrast material to examine blood vessels in the brain for abnormalities such as aneurysms and arterovenous malformations.

Cerebral angiography produces very detailed, clear and accurate pictures of blood vessels in the brain and may eliminate the need for surgery.
